Abstract

The Cuban university has the social mission of forming integral and competent professionals, who according to the demands of the current curriculum, should to be able to express themselves orally in English as basic users (A2) as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for the Languages. As it is stated in this model of formation, university students have to certify through a proficiency exam that they can communicate themselves competently in oral and written form in the target language. However, the recent proficiency exam administered to university students at Las Tunas University demonstrated that they have difficulties while giving simple descriptions and managing interactions about familiar topics. In order to contribute to solve this problem, the objective of this paper is to propose a set of procedures and techniques to develop speaking skills.
