Abstract

Cuba's cultural policy sets forth the priority of safeguarding the traditions that distinguish the people, including repentismo, which has been declared the nation's intangible cultural heritage. In order to contribute to its appreciation and cultivation in the new generations, children's repentismo workshops were founded. In this sense, the province of Las Tunas stands out for having created these creative spaces in different localities, as is the case of the El Cucalambe children's repentismo workshop, located in the rural community of Vedado 3, in the municipality of Jesus Menendez. The objective of this study is to value its contributions to the cultural development of this locality. For this reason, theoretical elements that support the object and field of study were studied in depth, which made it possible to delimit dimensions and indicators for the analysis of the results. The use of methods and techniques made it possible to obtain the necessary information and to concretize the diagnosis of the reality studied. This evidenced the contributions of the workshop with respect to the permanence and generational transmission of repentismo in the locality, the education in identity, ethical and esthetic values, the acquisition of knowledge, skills and creative capacities, oriented to the integral formation of the children and their identification with this popular art that is representative of the community sociocultural context.
