Abstract

The constant changes that occur in the Cuban Basic Secondary School Model and the universal tendency to establish interdisciplinary relations as a way to improve the teaching-learning process, demands to increase the preparation of all the teaching staff of this level of education so that they can successfully lead this process. This article offers a proposal of teaching tasks from an interdisciplinary perspective with the objective of developing reading comprehension in 9th grade students of Pedro Díaz Coello Basic Secondary School in Holguín province. In this proposal, literary and non-literary texts were used, among which stand out those belonging to the Cuadernos Martianos, publications of Libertad publishing house and journalistic articles such as the Reflections of Fidel Castro Ruz which, due to their contents, should be used in the integral formation of the student. This made possible the analysis of the fundamental elements of reading comprehension with a communicative approach whose tasks could be used as models for the Basic Secondary School teacher in the consolidation classes within the framework of the transformations of the project of this teaching level. The effectiveness of the research was verified during several courses with the use of different scientific methods which offer evidence in favor of the application of this proposal.
