Impact of artificial intelligence on strategic management

Authors

Abstract

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) applications have experienced steady growth, which has driven its adoption in various areas within organizations and in different sectors of the global economy. This research seeks to examine how AI is used in business strategy formulation and to identify potential knowledge gaps to guide future research. To achieve this, the authors employ a bibliometric study based on the analysis of 28 research studies obtained from the Scopus (23 studies) and WoS (5 studies) databases, which explore the relationship between AI and organizational strategy. The results show that AI will gain relevance in several strategic areas of companies. Specifically, its growing application in strategic marketing, strategic management and human capital management and employee training, areas that have seen great benefits and transformations thanks to this technology, stand out. In addition, there has been a recent increase in its use in the design of corporate sustainability strategies, as it plays an increasingly relevant role in the creation of social and environmental value. The authors conclude that future research should focus on analyzing in depth the level of impact of AI in these strategic areas. This approach would allow a better understanding of the benefits and challenges of integrating AI into organizational strategies and contribute to the development of conceptual and practical frameworks that maximize its impact and effectiveness in today's business environment, promoting more informed and strategic adoption.
