El presente artículo tiene como objetivo valorar la relevancia de las redes sociales y su función educativa en los actuales escenarios formativos de la Educación Superior. E él se sostiene que las universidades, como instituciones claves en la sociedad de la información y del conocimiento, deben propiciar la generación de ambientes para la creatividad y la gestión del conocimiento. Las redes sociales son herramientas bien acogidas por los estudiantes, constituyen un apoyo para el proceso de enseñanza-aprendizaje, fortalecen la autonomía, el trabajo cooperativo, el intercambio y se convierten en espacios inclusivos e innovadores que favorecen nuevas formas de enseñar y aprender en la Educación Superior. Los docentes tienen el reto de ser permeables a los cambios que se producen en el entorno comunicativo y de los usos sociales de la red. La verdadera transformación se encuentra en la dinámica educativa que se desarrolla en el aula y, hoy cada vez más, fuera de ella. Por tanto, el uso activo y social de la red no puede ser ignorado en las planificaciones docentes.
ABSTRACT
The objective of this article is to assess the relevance of social networks and their educational function in the current educational scenarios of Higher Education. He argues that universities, as key institutions in the information and knowledge society, should foster the creation of environments for creativity and knowledge management. Social networks are tools that are well received by students, constitute a support for the teaching-learning process, strengthen autonomy, cooperative work, exchange and become inclusive and innovative spaces that favor new ways of teaching and learning in the Higher education. Teachers have the challenge of being permeable to the changes that occur in the communicative environment and the social uses of the network. The true transformation is found in the educational dynamic that develops in the classroom and, today more and more, outside of it. Therefore, the active and social use of the network can not be ignored in the teaching plans.
