The formation of the industrial engineer in Ecuador: a view from the Universidad Laica "Eloy Alfaro" of Manabí

Abstract

Vocational training has different manifestations that are expressed in the aims of Higher Education in Ecuador, in order to improve the preparation of students to solve professional problems through scientific means, in accordance with the demands and requirements of society. In this sense, we wish to develop the professional formation of the students of Industrial Engineering of the Laica University "Eloy Alfaro" of Manabí, from the professional academic components, socio-professional context, research, evaluation and formation from the professional systematization of the Industrial Engineer. The formation of these students has the social responsibility of contributing to the full development of their personality and to their preparation as independent professionals and transformers of the social environment in the historical conditions in which they have lived. For this reason, this article presents a characterization of the formation of the Industrial Engineer in Ecuador, which has allowed us to have a look from the Universidad Laica "Eloy Alfaro" of Manabí, as well as to value its action in a planned, conscious and systematic way, through a system of activities from the diversity of substantive processes: teaching, linkage and research, in which the teachers and the students themselves participate, which favors the achievement of the professional competences declared in the graduation profile.
