Interdisciplinary activities for the development of environmental education from the teaching of the humanities

Abstract

The environmental education of students is based on the integral approach of humanistic formation of the personality from the contents of the different disciplines at different educational levels. To this end, environmental education for climate change is today a priority that needs to be addressed on the basis of the orientation of contents that guarantee a solid motivation in their formation towards these purposes. However, from the authors' teaching experience and from the empirical results obtained with the application of the survey, interview and participant observation methods, it was found that there are still insufficiencies in the environmental education of pre-university and university students, evident in their modes of action due to an insufficient scientific-methodological preparation of teachers to channel this content from the different disciplines. In this sense, on the basis of modeling, this article offers a proposal of interdisciplinary integrative activities for the treatment of environmental education, particularly from the disciplines of social and humanistic sciences, in students of both educations, which are part of a teaching material elaborated with the purpose of strengthening it. The impacts achieved in the motivation, textual production and behavior of the students before the different problem situations presented to them, show the apprehension of the environmental education contents in them and the level of scientific-methodological preparation achieved by their teachers.
