Abstract

The environmental training of social communicators is an urgent necessity in the current Cuban context, where the challenges of sustainable development demand professionals capable of managing public communication with an environmental focus. For these reasons, this article emerges with the aim of presenting a methodology for implementing the environmental training model for social communicators in support of sustainable development, as a practical result of pedagogical research. The research, carried out between 2020 and 2023, used a mixed approach with a qualitative predominance. Theoretical methods were used: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, modeling, and systemic-structural; and empirical methods: participant observation, in-depth interviews with 11 teachers and 6 tutors from the work entities, surveys of 36 students, document analysis, and discussion groups. A methodology structured in three stages was developed: planning and organization, implementation, and evaluation, with 9 interrelated procedures that allow linking environmental contextualization and environmental communicative intervention in the Interdisciplinary Work Practice. The methodology provides a system of actions that goes beyond fragmented approaches by integrating academic, work, and research aspects from an interdisciplinary perspective, addressing the shortcomings identified in the assessment. It serves as a pedagogical management tool that contributes to the comprehensive environmental education of social communicators, strengthens the university-society connection, and their way of professional practice.
