This article is the result of a research that carried out a study, from theory and practice, about the low motivation that students of Pre-university Education have for learning the subject History of Cuba and the difficulties in the development of intellectual skills that hinder the development of historical thinking. Hence, its objective is to present actions elaborated to favor the development of historical thinking in the teaching and learning of the subject History of Cuba in Pre-university Education. For the elaboration of the proposal, theoretical and empirical methods and techniques were used, such as: historical and logical, modeling, study of the products of the activity, participant observation, survey and interview, critical opinion and collective construction workshops, formative pedagogical experiment and mathematical-statistical procedures. Likewise, the social demands, the Cuban high school model and the curriculum of this educational level were taken into account, in which the subject History of Cuba plays a fundamental role, if it is taken into account that it is, due to its rationality and socio-cultural influence, a process that demands an unquestionable formative rigor. Once the proposal was implemented, qualitatively superior results were obtained.
