Educative acting in elderly about the arterial hypertension and its risks factors

The article describes the results of an educational intervention research that evaluates the effectiveness of an educational program on the level of knowledge of Arterial Hypertension and its risk factors, in patients of the Medical Clinic Arroyo Muerto, municipality Majibacoa, during the period January- December 2017. 108 patients obtained through inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected for the sample. Scientific, theoretical, empirical and statistical methods were used. The data were processed and represented through frequency distribution tables and from them the analysis and discussion of the results was performed, observing that before the educational intervention there were 32.4% of patients with an adequate level of knowledge about Hypertension. Arterial and 35.2% on the risk factors, after the intervention the number of patients with an adequate level of knowledge was 92.4% and 100% respectively. Concluding that before the educational intervention, the majority of patients had inadequate knowledge about Arterial Hypertension and its risk factors, the treatment most practiced by these patients was the pharmacological one, confirming that after the intervention the level of knowledge was raised in all aspects and it was achieved that the majority of the patients did practice combined treatment.
