Abstract

Since the revolutionary triumph, the continuing education of professionals in pedagogical careers has been a priority for Higher Education in Cuba. With the implementation of Study Plan E in pedagogical careers, there is a need to improve this process from its components: undergraduate training in careers with a broad profile, the stage of preparation for employment and postgraduate education. These aspects allow determining the objective of this article: to systematize the main historical antecedents of the continuing education of professionals in pedagogical careers, with emphasis on the stage of preparation for employment. Different scientific research methods were used, among which the historical-logical and documentary analysis stand out. In the development of the work, the main milestones that mark the imprint in the historical development of the object are assumed as fundamental referents. In addition, the main features that characterize each of the stages are evaluated and trends are established. These elements make it possible to determine how far we have come in terms of the continuing education of the professional in pedagogical careers and the stage of preparation for employment, as well as the main deficiencies, which allows us to advance in its improvement.
