Abstract

A study of congenital defects up to the prenatal stage was carried out with the aim of describing their relationship with environmental and socio-economic factors. The concept, causes of congenital defects, relevant characteristics of the critical period of embryonic development, prenatal diagnosis. Congenital defects are widely represented in the pediatric clinic and are currently a very frequent subject of discussion in the world medical literature, with special attention to their etiology, since in 90% of the cases their pathogenesis is unknown. We consider that it is of vital importance to have knowledge about the diagnosis of congenital defects in our environment, since this will allow us to increase the information we have about them, to make an earlier diagnosis and to diminish in some way the negative effect on the morbidity and mortality of these children.
