The influence of arts education in the formation of the cultural identity of the elementary school student

Abstract

Since the beginning of the Revolution and as a reflection of the Cuban cultural policy, the educational system focuses its attention on the defense of traditions and disseminates them as a living heritage. It is the school that plays the leading role in this sense and intends within its main objectives, the dissemination of local culture and the consequent development of identity in students. That is why the article presents a historical analysis for the formation of local cultural identity, from the teaching-learning process of the subject Artistic Education in students of Basic Secondary Education. In addition, the educational influence of the agents and socializing agencies, the spaces of action and the selection of the visual and practical methods to be used in the teaching activities, inside and outside the school in favor of the integral formation of the student are evaluated.
