Activity theory as a didactic approach in the socio-humanistic education of university students in Cuba

In an increasingly convulsive world, where neoliberal practices and models that condemn large human groups to exclusion, marginality and poverty are globalized, it is essential to maintain the achievements of the Cuban Revolution. This requires an adequate socio-humanist formation of young university students, which, together with academic instruction, can prepare a competent professional committed to the Cuban economic and socio-political model. In the face of repeated insufficiencies in the social-humanist approach required by this professional, a project for the formation of values consubstantial to the student is needed. Such a project takes shape in the conception of human activity, in its condition of didactic approach and the processes and procedures derived from it, which makes it possible to transfer to the training process of the professional the system of values that qualify him/her, while enriching his/her socio-humanist training. It is based on a philosophical-pedagogical conception and on the conscious, holistic and dialectical character of the socio-humanist training process, as a system of relationships.
