Abstract

Environmental education as part of the educational process in schools has been governed by the country's environmental policy in its different historical moments, directing the formation of the primary teacher in this sense. These aspects make it possible to determine the objective of this article: to systematize the main historical antecedents of the process of environmental education as part of the initial training of the primary teacher in Cuba from 1989 to 2017, depending on which different methods of scientific investigation were used, within those that stand out are the historical and the documentary analysis. In the development of the work, the main milestones are taken as fundamental referents that, both internationally and nationally, have served as guidelines for environmental problems. The main features that characterize each of the stages in which the transit of the process under study in the analysis period is considered, as well as the main regularities that characterize this process, are also valued.
