Integrated solid waste management in the community

Abstract

The current policy of the Cuban State incorporates environmental criteria in the productive processes, and in general in Cuban society, an aspiration of special relevance in the Ministry of Industries, particularly in the Raw Materials Recovery Company. This article responds to the objective of basing the Management of Urban Solid Waste in the community and its revaluation, emanating from the relationship between the University of Las Tunas and the Raw Materials Collection Company. As a way to achieve the objective, the analysis of theoretical elements that should be taken into account in the communities for such management is carried out. The following methods were used in its conception: analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, study of bibliographic sources, observation and survey, which made possible the synthesis of the content. This showed the aspects to be considered in order to protect the environment in the community space. This is because they constitute a set of values, beliefs and norms, which guide and regulate the management of the Las Tunas Raw Materials Recovery Company in the communities and allow the transformation of the economic, social and cultural conditions and the social relations of the local spaces, through the development of a waste management and a participative style that involves the integrated action of the greatest diversity of social actors, aimed at improving the quality of life.
