THE FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE READING HABIT IN CUBA

Resumen

En el artículo se expone el pensamiento pedagógico cubano acerca de la lectura y se establece una comparación entre el hábito lector de los cubanos en la etapa prerrevolucionaria, en la que constituía un derecho reservado para la minoría privilegiada; y la etapa revolucionaria, en la que el Estado crea las condiciones para que toda la población tenga acceso al libro y a otras fuentes de información y se favorece la formación lectora de los cubanos. Se aborda el trabajo de promoción realizado en Cuba desde los primeros años del triunfo revolucionario con el propósito de desarrollar el hábito lector.

ABSTRACT:

In this article the Cuban pedagogical thought is exposed about reading and it is established a comparison between the Cuban s reading habits in the revolutionary period, in which it constituted a reserved upright for the privilege minority, and the revolutionary period, in which the state creates conditions for the whole population to have access to books and other sources of information and the Cuban reading formation is favored. It deals with the promotion work carried out in Cuba since the first years of the triumph of the revolution with the purpose to develop the reading habit.
