Strategy for environmental education as a component of citizenship training in the university community

Abstract

Higher Education from the profile of the professional and taking into account professional problems contributes to the initial training of students as part of the university community, for their performance as young university students and future professionals. The research related to a scientific problem concerning the inadequacies in the preparation of students of the university community from the conceptual and attitudinal point of view in relation to the needs and demands of our society regarding environmental protection. The theoretical assumptions on which it based, allowed the elaboration of an Environmental Education strategy, integrated to the Teaching-Educational process, to include integrated actions of the cognitive, affective and behavioral components, planned and structured from the diagnosis and characterization of the university community, with the objective of favoring a positive orientation in the attitude with respect to the environment. Different research methods used, such as historical-logical, inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic. The work contributes to strengthen the formative process to create values. To direct the protection and conservation of the environment of the university community, through a strategy, that facilitates its citizen formation and ecological culture to face the complex challenges of the construction of socialism in the midst of a capitalist world in permanent economic, political and social crisis; with serious environmental affectations that endanger the very existence of humanity.
