Abstract

Science and innovation management is a key process in Cuban universities, fundamental for economic and social development. In the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism at the University of Las Tunas, deficiencies have been identified in this process, such as the lack of knowledge of the technological needs of the tourism sector and the limited implementation of research results in professional practice. These problems highlighted the need to optimize it in order to improve its impact on the tourism sector and guarantee the applicability of the results in the training of future professionals in the area. The objective of this study was to design a procedure to improve the management of science and innovation in the Bachelor's Degree in Tourism at ULT. The dialectical materialistic method was used as the guiding method, complemented with theoretical and empirical methods. Document analysis, interviews to key actors of the process and a diagnosis to identify limitations and opportunities for improvement were carried out. The proposed procedure includes four phases: diagnosis, planning, development and evaluation, which facilitate the integration of the needs of the tourism sector with the capabilities of the career. This promotes a more efficient management aligned with social and economic demands. Its implementation will contribute to strengthen the university-industry link, guarantee the relevance of research results and achieve a training more aligned with the needs of the tourism sector.
