Abstract

Sociocultural management for development is epistemologically centered on cultural studies as a tool for social transformation integrally linked to the current Cuban context. Plan E, of the Sociocultural Management for Development career at the Agrarian University of Havana (UNAH), promotes sustainable human development both individually and collectively through various projects, strategies and actions, preferably local and community-based, linked to social development programs and policies. In this scientific-methodological context, the subject Heritage and Tourism is taught at the undergraduate level, offering the professional knowledge that relates tourism management with the development of circuits, training, diagnostics, itineraries and new ventures, in harmony with cultural factors and expressions of social groups. The objective of this scientific work is to critically evaluate the contributions of cultural studies to tourism development from a career with a sociocultural profile. For this purpose, the research methods of induction-deduction, analysis-synthesis, document analysis and in-depth interview were used. The main contributions of cultural studies to tourism development show different forms of action of the professional, social research, updating of skills, training of competencies, actions for the consolidation of cultural aspects in loss or deterioration, application of diagnostics, management of itineraries, circuits and ventures.
