Improving the quality of education is a task for all members of society. Undoubtedly, the role of the teacher is fundamental in this process. Because of this, it was necessary to investigate the factors that can harm the teaching practice. The study analyzes the sources that provoke work stress in educators belonging to the area of basic education. Seventy-nine teachers from the Metropolitan District and Villa Florida Educational Units in the city of Santo Domingo, Ecuador, were surveyed. The methodology is organized from a quantitative approach with a non-experimental, transversal and descriptive design. The questionnaire used in this study was the Organizational Stress Scale proposed by Silvia Nogareda Cuixart Lda. Finally, descriptive statistics was used as a data analysis technique. The results reveal that 55.7% of the teachers feel concerned about the sources of stress analyzed, with work supervision and the lack of various inputs standing out as the main stressors. On the other hand, 29.1% mentioned that they find it quite stressful to live in an environment that needs improvement of all kinds. The conclusion is that there is an urgent need to address these issues in order to improve the well-being and performance of educators in the work environment.
