Abstract

The intervention of Preconceptional Reproductive Risk (PRR) is a worldwide public health priority and a powerful tool for the reduction of infant maternal mortality. With the objective of evaluating the impact of an intervention strategy in patients with RRPC belonging to the Family Medical Clinic 18 of the Guillermo Tejas Silva Polyclinic, a quasi-experimental study of intervention type was carried out from January to December 2021. The universe consisted of 199 women of reproductive age, from which the sample was selected (N=60) taking into account selection criteria. The study was designed in three stages: diagnostic, intervention and evaluation. An educational program was applied. The percentage was used as a summary measure for qualitative variables and the Mc Nemar test was used for statistical validation of the changes before and after the intervention was applied. Of the 60 patients, 78.3% had no knowledge initially and two after the intervention, for an effectiveness of 96.6%. Before the intervention there were incorrect answers in 46 of the 50 items for 92% and after the intervention only two were incorrect (96.0%). It was concluded that the application of the educational intervention had a favorable impact on the level of knowledge of the patients, which led to their active participation in the construction of their own health in the preconception stage.
