Abstract

At present, there are insufficient studies focused on the history of education in Las Tunas. Consequently, this problem is an attempt against the formation of a local educational identity in teachers and students, which expresses a contradiction between the need for a greater identification with the local historical traditions of these and the insufficiency of their historical knowledge about the evolution of pre-university education in the revolutionary stage. From the approach of this contradiction it was determined to carry out the analysis of the evolution of pre-university education as an identity element of the local culture of the province of Las Tunas from 1971 to 2000. The dialectical-materialist approach inherent to the Marxist-Leninist Philosophy in its double character of theory and scientific method of knowledge, is the main way in the proposed objective and governs the processes of analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction and the historical-logical method. In addition, bibliographic sources were consulted and interviews were conducted. This work contributes to the History of Education, especially to the historical-educational studies referred to pre-university education in the Cuban context.
