Suicide attempt prevention in pre-university students: a view from the educational context

Abstract

A monographic study was carried out with the objective of analyzing the theoretical foundations of suicide attempt prevention in pre-university students in the educational context from an integral institutional, family and community approach. Historical-logical qualitative methods, analysis-synthesis and systematization of theory were used. The research carried out over the last decades coincides in a significant way in explicitly highlighting the decisive role of educational centers for the efficient prevention of suicide. Suicide prevention is an integrative process, which is organized taking into consideration the demands of the subject, the needs and emergencies identified. In its approach, it is necessary to know the risk factors, reinforce the protective factors with mediators and intervene according to the psychological state, environmental situation and cultural conditions.
