The meaning of life in a centenarian

Abstract

The present study is based on the interpretation of the life history based on the reflections, evaluations, experiences of a centenarian older adult, resident in the town of Cruce de los Baños, Tercer Frente Municipality, Santiago de Cuba province, with the objective of characterizing the process of shaping the meaning of life. The qualitative methodology is used, the biographical method was selected and the in-depth interview as a fundamental technique. The research allowed to delve into theoretical indicators related to the meaning of life: motivations, representations, autonomy, self-assessment and future perspectives, which made it possible to identify the events and experiences that qualify this category by stages of development in the case studied. The proposed objective is achieved by characterizing the configuration of the meaning of life of the centenarian, identifying its influence in the community through integration in the different actions of the Care Program for the Elderly and the qualitative or reconstructive shifts in the meaning of life. life that she could achieve.
