Teaching activities to contribute to the education of sustainable energy consumption in pre-university students

Abstract

This article addresses the need to strengthen education for sustainable energy consumption in pre-university students, detected from the manifestations of insufficiencies in the knowledge of the subject in a group of eleventh grade students of the IPU "Pelayo Paneque". In order to investigate this problem in depth, instruments such as a student survey, teacher interviews, class observations and pedagogical tests were applied, which revealed the initial state of the investigated process. As a solution proposal, teaching activities aimed at enriching the cultural level and contributing to create an energy and environmental awareness in students were elaborated. The proposal will help students acquire new knowledge and motivations in relation to the need and importance of saving energy, as well as its impact on the environment, in which they are involved as active and decisive entities in the future of the planet.
