Abstract

The article deals with the sociodemographic diagnosis carried out by the authors in the province of Las Tunas. The period 2000-2015 was covered, since it was part of a research carried out for the first 15 years of the present century. The behavior of the demographic dynamics of its population was reviewed, related to the changes in fertility, mortality and migrations, and very closely studies the change in the age structure and the evolution of the aging of the population of Las Tunas in this period. Tables, graphs and maps are presented that allow to know more about the demographic reality of the province. A territory that is losing population, a fertility that is below the level of generational replacement, the province with the highest life expectancy in the country, and a negative total migratory balance, are some of the most relevant results found in this study.
