The training of education professionals in Cuba is characterized as a dynamic, integrating and altruistic process, which involves knowledge and feelings according to the growing demands that teachers require in terms of training for an efficient performance of their tasks and functions. In the specific case of the Pedagogy-Psychology career, its professional work differs from other pedagogical careers, by highlighting the guiding function from its mode of action with a deeper and more specialized approach, as well as the counseling to managers and teachers. This indicates that their preparation must be in correspondence with that of the management staff of schools or other institutions related to their fields of action. The uniqueness of their performance requires showing knowledge, abilities, values and aspects associated with emotional competencies, which allow them to attend to diversity in order to lead to individual and collective wellbeing. Hence, the objective of this paper is aimed at offering updated theoretical references on emotional education as a competence to be developed by the educational psychologist in the performance of his functions.
