Experience in virtual tutoring using WhatsApp

Abstract

Virtual tutoring is a factor that can determine the academic success of students. For them, it is necessary that there is a constant exchange, characterized by an affective climate that is appealing. In line with the development of mobile technology and new forms of communication through instant messaging tools such as WhatsApp, it is suggestive to incorporate applications of this type to the educational process since they could be attractive, motivating and practical for students. The present research aims to assess the tutorial work supported by the use of this social network in a graduate course on Scientific Writing taught at the University of Granma. For this purpose, an anonymous survey was applied to the participants. The results indicate satisfaction with the teacher's work in the guidance, accompaniment and clarification of doubts in a timely manner. It is concluded that the use of WhatsApp contributed positively to this, since it provided greater interaction and stimulus to the teaching-learning processes, making the study more enjoyable.
