Abstract

This paper describes an investigation on the results obtained by 34 commercial companies in the city of Guayaquil, which implemented organizational development projects during 2018. It is a descriptive study; the sample was integrated by companies dedicated to the sale of mass consumption products, belonging to the commercial sector, the criterion used for its selection was that these companies have a payroll of not less than 100 employees in which organizational development projects have been implemented in the last two years and that were willing to provide relevant information on this topic. The technique used for data collection was a survey administered to representatives and executives of these organizations with prior informed consent. The following aspects were analyzed in this study: the departments involved in the development; implementation of the changes introduced after the projects; the aspects improved; the control and follow-up mechanisms; the difficulties in the implementation and the results obtained in the companies after the execution of the organizational development projects. The research concludes that most of the successful organizational development projects focused on the development of the sense of institutional belonging, the strengthening of corporate values and the improvement of the work environment, and that such success was possible when the personnel decided to work as a team aligned under a clear leadership, a shared purpose and in a motivating context.
