Open access policy
The electronic journal Opuntia Brava declares itself as a scientific and academic Open Access journal and is governed by the Diamond Open Access Declaration.
Diamond Open Access, understood as publication with no fees for reading or publishing, created and maintained by academic and scientific organizations, is a reference for non-commercial publishing models, compatible with the public goods paradigm and inclusive by definition. The dissemination of scientific results is a vital phase of the research process, aimed at spreading scientific knowledge freely, accessibly, and available. It is also distinguished by being economically sustainable for institutions and by providing visibility, readability, and impact to authors. CC BY-NC-ND
Within the fundamental principles that govern its policy, the following are defended:
- Science as a global public good that provides access as a universal right.
- The inclusive, multilingual, accessible, reusable, and collaborative nature of science.
- All scientific production is the property of the academy and should contribute to the development and progress of society as a heritage of humanity.
- Accreditation, research, and funding entities must recognize, evaluate, and incentivize non-commercial means of producing and disseminating scientific knowledge
- Interaction and collaboration among non-commercial agents, scientific publications, and open infrastructures are necessary for building ecosystems of public goods.
In full alignment with this movement, it offers all interested audiences free and immediate access to its scientific content, allowing readers, whether registered on the Journal's platform or not, to read, download, copy, distribute, print, consult, or use the published works for research or academic purposes, without any financial, legal, or technical barriers, provided that they are used non-commercially and the original authors and the journal as the original publication outlet are properly credited and cited.
Authors who publish in Opuntia Brava retain the rights to use their contributions, with full freedom to share them on personal websites and/or in open-access digital repositories, with the sole explicit condition that they reference the original publication.
