The artistic formation of the student of Foreign Languages (English with a second language) is one of the essential aspects of his initial professional training. The foreign language teacher must make use of singing, theatrical performance, painting and literary creation to teach the culture that carries the foreign language. However, the aforementioned training is limited to artistic appreciation and not to the development of elementary artistic competence for singing, theatrical performance, painting and literary creation that would be used in the teaching of the foreign language in schools. Two of the disciplines that contribute to develop the aforementioned competence are the Comprehensive English Language Practice (PILI) and French (PILF). In them the student sings, acts, paints or draws and performs literary creations; but the potentialities of the referred artistic manifestations for the development of the communicative competence and in addition to contribute to the development of the elementary artistic competition are not taken advantage of. The aim of this article is to reflect on the need to favor the development of the elementary artistic competence of the student of foreign language for singing, acting, painting and literary creation from foreign language classes based on their professional training.
