Abstract

The research addresses the problem of insufficient transfer of agricultural scientific and technological innovation products (PCITA) at the University of Las Tunas, limiting its socioeconomic impact and affecting local agricultural production and development. The objective was to develop a Geographic Information System (GIS) to facilitate the management of PCITA transfer through spatial analysis. A study was conducted at the University of Las Tunas (2012-2014), a sample of 174 PCITA georeferenced out of a total of 317. Surveys and interviews were applied to producers and suppliers to diagnose the transfer process. A GIS was created using GEOCUBA methodology and QGIS 2.14 Essen software, with thematic and cadastral databases. The results revealed insufficiencies in the application of scientific and technical advances, lack of georeferencing of PCITA data (73.7%) and the need to strengthen links between universities and producers. The GIS helps to determine areas to transfer PCITA and direct actions more effectively. The evaluation of experts and users was positive, with a Group Satisfaction Index of 0.82. This research is linked to the strategic lines for the rural agrarian development of Las Tunas and the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution. The GIS can improve the management and transfer of PCITA, improve the application of technologies and food production. It strengthens the university-producer linkage and the impact on rural agrarian development.
