The hospital activity within the health services plays a preponderant role, assumes a mission of great social value and stands out for its high importance and complexity. The hospital is also a center for the training and education of medical and support personnel, as well as for scientific and bio-social research. Of all public or private organizations, the hospital is one of the most complex to manage, due to factors such as the continuous medical specializations, the incorporation of new interdisciplinary knowledge, newer equipment and the increase in the number of diseases requiring costly and sophisticated treatment. In addition to generating a high degree of waste to the environment, it is of vital importance the preparation of its workers in this area. The objective of this article is to establish a relationship between the dimensions of the hospital and the environmental dimension in the training of human resources, in order to increase the effectiveness of environmental protection in these institutions. For this purpose, methods such as analysis-synthesis, induction-deduction, observation and survey were useful. The main result is that the interrelation achieved in these dimensions will facilitate the work by processes and the effectiveness of actions to protect the environment and increase workers' competences.
