Abstract

The creation of grandparents' circles in the community is important to promote recreational and cultural physical activity. For this reason, a group of community managers is needed to capture, support and disseminate the community activities that are carried out. With the objective of socializing the experiences on the creation of community management groups to promote physical activity in grandparents' circles and to present the main results achieved in the Roberto Rivas Fraga Popular Council of the municipality of Ciego de Avila, this article is presented. The action-research was applied with the objective of creating community management groups to promote physical activity, as well as the recruitment of adults aged 60 years and older for belonging to the grandparents' circles. The research was developed from the following steps: determination of the foundations on the creation of the community management groups to promote physical activity; review of the normative documents and research that support their creation, the determination of the functions and roles that each person occupies within the educational process that is developed in the community, the selection of the requirements to belong to the grandparents' circle and the results achieved in the process of recruitment of older adults, as well as the main actions developed with the members of the grandparents' circle since its creation. Other methods used were: historical-logical, analytical-synthetic, documentary analysis, triangulation of sources, observation and interview.
