Epistemic resources of bioethics. Its necessary consideration in Higher Education in Cuba

Abstract

The emergence of bioethics is conditioned by the need to find answers and provide solutions to the major conflicts posed today by the new moral problems related to the change in the place of science in terms of the application of its results and its impact on the lives of people, society and nature. In this field, different disciplines and sciences converge and have found the appropriate space to incorporate their own concerns, giving rise to a proliferation of positions with respect to science. This paper aims to reveal those elements that, as epistemic resources, favor the integration of the different arguments defended in each of these positions and contribute to the conformation of an integrating global perspective of bioethics. Higher Education is conceived as the mediating space from which the consolidation of this perspective is favored. This study is based on a dialectical-materialistic approach and has a necessarily transdisciplinary orientation. It resorts to the use of the theoretical methods of scientific knowledge in the study of the complex framework in which the dilemmas and conflicts that today require moral evaluation occur.
