Abstract

In the current circumstances, various societies face complex conditions in their struggle, accentuated by the cultural hegemony of the great centers of political and economic power in the world. Faced with such a reality, memoirs on regional thought, especially those aimed at understanding the trajectory of a thought in its context, have found excellent support in current research, essentially in those dedicated to studies on philosophical thought. The philosopher on whom this study focuses is Medardo Vitier (1886-1960), considered an exponent of the critical systematization of the Cuban nineteenth-century philosophical thought essentially, while, at the same time, renovator of the same during the Republic. More than a century after his theoretical elaboration, his work -favored in the national academic treatment- is still presented as an open question for the study and rescue of Cuban philosophizing. Therefore, it is necessary to value him as a social scientist who, because of his contributions, deserves to be analyzed in greater depth. The present work is oriented to reveal the character and relationship of the theoretical and contextual elements that favor the process of construction of Medardo Vitier's philosophical thought and that reveal the existence of an epistemological perspective.
