Approach to the oratory of Felix Varela

Abstract

The present work has as objective to show the particularities of the oratory of the presbyter Félix Varela y Morales, as a way to contribute to the knowledge of the life and work of the one who taught us first in thinking; and to spread this facet of his, little studied. From a brief characterization of the sociocultural context, in which the Island of Cuba was and the classification of the types of oratory in which Father Varela ventured, the main thematic tendencies of his thought are identified, through the analysis of his speeches collected in the Works of Félix Varela, in three volumes, published by the House of High Studies Don Fernando Ortiz and the Institute of History of Cuba in 1997.
