System of teaching excursions to contribute to national and local identity in Lower Secondary

Abstract

National identity is promoted as a just concern for what is happening in our world today under the influence of globalization. The consequences of globalization can be seen in a marked trend towards the loss of identity, the uprooting of national, regional and even local customs and culture. In order to strengthen feelings of national identity, we must begin by encouraging study and love for what is close to us, the land, and what surrounds us. Teaching excursions are a form of organization of great importance in the educational process, due to their broad pedagogical value since they turn the surrounding reality into an important teaching medium. That is why a system of excursions is presented to contribute to the strengthening of national and local identity based on the potential of the 9th grade Geography of Cuba programme at Carlos Marx ESBU in the municipality of Pinar del Río.
