Abstract

The diagnosis and treatment of foreign bodies in the airway are a challenge for the otolaryngologist. The purpose of this article is to show a case, corresponding to a 9-year-old male patient, referred to the otolaryngology service for suspected "foreign body in the lung". A chest X-ray (AP) was performed, from which a radiopaque image was visualized. Rigid bronchoscopy was performed, and the foreign body was clamped and removed. Currently the patient is well, without any respiratory symptoms. If foreign body aspiration is suspected, rigid bronchoscopy should be performed because it is the best diagnostic and therapeutic method.
